Slight copper hue, spicy, ripe fruit, crème brulée, full-flavoured but delicate & charming. Fine persistent mousse. Totally enjoyable and quite typical of the black-grape dominated Montagne de Reims style.

Jules
The nose is refined and aromatic, with aromas of white peach and citrus fruits and a touch of minerality. The palate is fruity and crunchy with great length. A well balanced wine, between roundness and freshness.

Chateau Suduiraut
CWM Rating: First Class! 54% Sémillon, 46% Sauvignon Blanc picked 25 August to 2 September. 25% aged in oak barrels (30% new). Great aromatic aromas, with Semillon beeswax, Sauvignon citrus and white flowers. This has some heft, salinity and big citrus flavours, very well balanced and long. Drink 2022-2026 David Williams, Observer "Château Suduiraut, for example, is known for being one of the very best producers in the Bordeaux sweet-wine district of Sauternes. But its Suduiraut Blanc Sec 2020 (£19.50, cambridgewine.com) is a nervy, luminously bright, verdant and citrussy example of dry Bordeaux " June 2021

Château de Géraud
Owned by the Gerardin family since the beginning of the 20th Century this dessert wine comes from the Monbazillac region of South West France. Similar grapes varieties and conditions to Sauternes are experienced in Monbazillac, with the development of noble rot in late autumn. Old vines of 50+ years are used to make this golden aromatic dessert wine which shows botrytis aromas of smoke, marmalade, honey. A good but not very high level of residual sugar and bright acidity make for a delicious and easy to drink wine to match with fruit desserts, pastries and blue cheeses.

Roger Sabon
Serious "baby Chateauneuf Blanc" from the opposing side of the Rhone, 6 miles from Chateauneuf. Creamy, almost waxy, broad, dense, intense, aromatic, spiced. Almond and toast, apricot and lilies. Quite superb food wine with rich creamy sauces, roast birds, mushrooms, fish and chips. Way out of its class, a jewel and bargain from top Chateauneuf grower Sabon. Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier, Clairette. Minimal sulphur, cool co-ferment, unfined, vines up to 40 years old, declassified vineyard.

Gayda
Pale colour with aromas of strawberries and cream. Summer fruits, fresh lively style with crisp acidity, creaminess and a well balanced finish. The Flying Solo range flies in the face of convention, shunning international varieties in favour of the typical Mediterranean Grenache grape which forms its backbone, blended Cinsault. It celebrates the intrepid Aéropostale pilots who risked life and limb to ensure postal deliveries in the 1920s

Domaine Gayda
Notes of cherry and raspberry, with a sniff of garrigue. A delightful mouthfeel with silky tannins and notes of black fruits and spices, ending with a tangy finish and a good length. Beautiful Syrah and Carignan from the Roussillon grown on gneiss. The Syrah was destemmed and fermented then raised in 5yo oak barrels, The Carignan was fermented whole bunch then raised in stainless steel to preserve it brilliant brightness. A great En Passant.

Tiny house in the famous village of Cumieres in the Marne valley. Pinot-dominated like most wines from this village, it's deep copper/gold and wonderfully peachy and lush, explosively juicy, and cracking value.

My personal fave vineyard for Pauly wines when young. Slate flavours wonderfully evident behind the white peach and ripe-lime beauty of this poised treat. Impossible ancient family grower, exceptional best-in-a-generation vintage.

Pale, deft and zesty and enticing. A Perfect example of Mid-Mosel dry Riesling - delicate white peach fruit, cool slate mineral. Top, ancient grower, all estate fruit.

Jever
A crisp and refined Pilsner with brilliant bitterness. The soft water used to make Jever allows for the hops to be even more apparant in this terrific beer. Expect grass and floral notes.

Weingut Max Ferd.Richter
This monopole is a southwest-facing vineyard slope of just two acres. The vineyard was planted in 1964, but the first historic record dates back to 30th April 1245! The vineyard was dedicated by the Count of Veldenz to the nearby convent from which it took its name Helenenkloster (St. Helenes convent.) It offers a rather aromatic nose made of vineyard peach, apricot blossom and fine spicy elements. The wine is subtly creamy yet also beautifully light-footed on the palate and leaves a direct feel of herbs, fruits and spices in the animating and persistent finish. Flavours of apricot add a touch of weight to the aftertaste.

Augustiner
Largely considered one of the best lagers in the world. That's certainly quite a claim but it is what you would expect from a brewery which opened in 1328. Augustiner Helles is incredibley refreshing, crisp and clean with a lightly hoppy finish.
