CWM Ranking - High 2:1 The best wine I have tasted from this usually reliable estate, an improvement even on the 2016 vintage. Packed with ripe fruit the extraction is well controlled, allowing the palate to build and remain fruity to the finish.

Nicely balanced, refreshing acidity with plenty of lush fruit and richness. A good value and successful wine in this vintage.

Garnet in colour, mostly opaque and bright. The nose takes a few minutes to open and then shows cherries and black cherries with some spice. On the palate, this is full bodied with a nice nice texture. Lots of black cherry fruit. A bit of anise on the long finish. Blind, I think I would have guessed Oregon or maybe California here due to all the ripe fruit. Still quite young, perhaps another two or three years will calm it down for those looking for more elegance. I quite enjoyed this as is. It will continue to drink nicely for a decade. Great on its own, this will work well with classic Pinot dishes such as roasted duck.

Cool, reserved, crunchy. Lovely with rare lamb, light dishes, summer afternoons.

The wine is rich, harmonious with nice red fruits, undergrowth and spices aromas with an excellent ageing. The color is dense with a rich bouquet of red and black fruits. The mouth is fleshy and round, with gorgeous and charming tannins and allows us to enjoy it young. Nice substance and structure for a great ageing. HISTORY The Dubost Family’s estates were created in 1957 by Paquerette and Yvon Dubost. He was the former mayor of Pomerol, so he knows its history as no one else does. His vineyards have a rich and complete range of wines. Nowadays, his son Laurent, graduated from agricultural school, runs the estate. Thanks to him and his team's hard work, he placed the wines from the Dubost estates at the fore of their appellations: Château Lafleur du Roy in Pomerol, Château les Pins de Bossuet a Bordeaux Supérieur, Château La Vallière in Lalande-de-Pomerol. Château les Pins de Bossuet was created and planted by Yvon and Pâquerette DUBOST in 1975, on exceptional parcels close to the appellations Lalande de Pomerol and Montagne Saint-Emilion. The 9 hectares are located at 70 meters of altitude, with a south west exposure, it benefits from the oceanic climate. The unique and exceptional terroir is exclusively made from gravels. The vineyard is 30 years old on average, planted with 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc. No chemical herbicides are used in the vineyard as it is regularly tilled. Finally, in order to keep the wine quality, harvests are completely made by hand with total destemming of the bunches.

A nose full of black and red fruit combined with spicy aromas. Very fresh but rounded as well with elegant fruit and acidity. An excellent example of Malbec from the Uco Valley.

Argentinean cousins of Ch Leoville Poyferré, combining French know-how with the Argentine experience and the Mendoza terroir. Bodega Cuvelier Los Andes is one of the founding members of the Clos de Los Siete, which we also sell. A blend of 70% Malbec, 13% Syrah, 10% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark damson juiciness with a hint of dark chocolate and gentle bite of tannin on the finish, this is richly silky but keeps nicely fresh too.

The charming, forward fruit of the 2021 is one of the successes of his portfolio this year. The light ruby colour gives no hint of the pronounced cherry fruit, floral and mineral accents and touch of salinity that one finds on the palate. The body is light, but there is real ripeness here and a great purity to the fruit leading to a lingering finish."

Francois Xavier AKA 'FX'. FX was vineyard manager for Tom Lubbe at Domaine Matassa for five years. He spent a further year with Domaine Danjou-Banessy. After such time this local lad set up in Espira to make his own wholly exciting wines. Whole bunch fermentation in stainless-steel tanks for 5 days for this beautiful Mourvedre from very old wines. On the morning of the 6th day the grapes were pressed, and the juice transferred back to stainless-steel tanks to complete fermentation. Only the naturally occurring indigenous yeasts were used in the fermentation. The wine was then aged 5 months in tank. Prior to bottling a very low dose of sulphites was added. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Vivid, bright and wild wine.

70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc. Attractive, complex fruit nose. Black fruits and some toasty oak, cocoa. Ripe and juicy flashy, plump, well built but not OTT. Chocolate oak nose. Dark deep purple in colour. Underlying earthy cocoa initial taste that builds to plum. Well balanced, not too dry considering its strength. Good longevity with the slightest touch of pepper

The Crusher Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a vibrant bouquet of black cherry, toasted oak and captivating pepperiness. Graceful in the mouth, with a silky texture and lively dark berry fruit, flavors of plum and dark chocolate expand on the palate.

This Syrah takes inspiration from wines of the Northern Rhone with its full-bodied, savoury-sweet and complex style. Ruby coloured, it leads with a floral perfume of rosemary, red fruits and other violets. Intense on the palate, expect mixed berries, black plum, leather hide and smooth, creamy tannins. The finish adds a touch of pepper spice.

TASTING NOTES 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot Alc. : 13 % vol. Displaying a deep purple red, Le Volte dell’Ornellaia 2022 shows ripe fruity aromas such as cherries and blackberries, inaddition to black pepperiness. The palate is generous with considerable body at first, followed by smooth and enduring tannins. Upbeat freshness and pleasurable fruity aromas make up the finish.

The latest vintage of Jeune Rouge from the legend of Lebanon is an unoaked blend of Cinsault (50%), Syrah (35%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) from organically certified estate vineyards.

Elegant and round. It is well balanced with a velvety attack followed by a pleasant acidity and a silky and full-bodied aftertaste resulting from its noble and ripe tannin. Its long aftertaste has spicy and balsamic hints, resulting from its long and peaceful ageing, as well as confit fruit nuances that uncover its personality.

It is a departure for Ridge, as it's not a single vineyard wine but instead a blend of 10 different sites from throughout Sonoma County. Bright and delightful with savoury herbs, tart early-season blackberries, and muddled mint leaves, all vie for attention in this wine's generous aromatic show. A melange of wild mountain berries, mouthfuls of dried savoury garrigue and lavender, dashes of white pepper and an incredible lift to the finish which lingers for an eternity. Concentrated and refined. Deep garnet in colour with rich raspberry, fig, exotic clove spice, and notes of fresh mint. Layered briary fruit on the palate with cocoa and a slight crushed granite minerality. Supple tannins and a long, lingering finish. 65% Zinfandel, 26% Petite Sirah, 5% Syrah, 4% Alicante Bouschet

100% old vine Carignan that was bred all in concrete tanks. Notes of leather, black cherries, plums and savoury herbs all emerge from this medium-bodied, fresh, lively wine. This is seamless and gorgeous stuff from Daniel Laffite. It would cost twice the price if it was from Priorat.

Silky, elegant red with berried fruits, rich and complex palate and well integrated new oak. David Baverstock, the godfather of modern Portuguese wines, is the winemaker. Blend of Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Trincadeira, Cabernet Sauvignon. 12 months in American (60%) and French (40%) oak barrels. After bottling, the wine aged 8 months in the bottle.

We've found another Syrah-led, Southern Rhone wine that astounds with its interest and punches way above its price tag. From Drink Rhone: 80% Syrah (1982-1990s-1997), 20-25% Grenache (1960s-1985-86) from 3 hectares on very stony clay-limestone soils on lightly north facing slope on Bois Lauzon with Champovin (Orange). Destemmed, 4 week steel vat vinification at up to 28°C, daily pumping overs, cap punching, half the Syrah aged new (33%)-4 year 600-litre oak casks, Grenache & half the Syrah vat raised 12 months. Certified organic wine, **** for the 2022 from John Livingstone-Learnmonth on Drink Rhone "Dark red; the nose has an earthy intensity, a brewed blue and black fruits air. The palate carries appealing, gourmand dark berry fruits, prune flavouring, extends into a spiced corridor late on, notes of tea leaves and mineral there. It gives a well filled Côtes that lasts well, digs in, has interest". From mid-2024. to 2030-31. Tasted Oct 2023

Very good Rioja that offers superb value. One year in a mixture of French and American oak barrels, adds texture and flavour to the tempranillo dominant blend from one of Rioja's most consistent producers.

The colour is an intense ruby red, with black to violet tones in contours. Aromas: Ripe red fruits, figs, spicy by nature (black pepper and cumin) with the aromas provided by the wood such as smoked and Tobacco. Mouth: Intense and sweet entry due to the ripe, firm and intense Tannins, product of a long and slow maturity. Medium to high structure, juicy has balanced acidity and long finish. A rich and very elegant red, a real treat.

Wow. Not only do this fabulous Domaine have a world-class, ancient vine Grenache Noir from one of the named terroirs for the cepage in Chateauneuf du Pape at the pinnacle of its range, Dominique also have the 'Grenache Vieilles Vignes 2023 La Reserve Saint Dominique' at the entry point - talk about dreams coming true for Grenache lovers such as us at CWM! This cuvee wowed our senior buyer initially, and later when presented to the team at a staff forum - jaws hit the floor once again. Beautiful 100% Grenache from a single clay and gravel-marked vineyard of only 0.95ha planted in 1966 on the plain. The vineyard is presently in conversion to 'Organic'. Whatever Eric Bonnet is doing in the vineyard, you can certainly feel the magic in the glass! Glorious lift of red fruit with a touch of dark cherry - the wine is floral and pleasing. The glorious mouth has similar styled fruit keeping things focused, pure, varietal and interesting with its lovely weight, mineral focus and outstanding length. What utter class as this price point. One to fill your boots with and enjoy this spring when the flowers are beginning to bloom. A real treat. Grenache heaven. Oh, and it’s not only us here at CWM who think so: "The Réserve Saint-Dominique Grenache Vieilles Vignes 2023 has been awarded a rating of two stars, which corresponds to an 'Outstanding Wine'". This wine was rated such in the 2025 edition of the Guide Hachette. Certainly a weighty accolade for a wine at this price.

The John X Merriman is a powerful wine that rewards aging. In its youth the wine is worth decanting and expresses cassis, black currant and dark fruits complemented with cigar tobacco and sour cherrynotes. As the wine ages and its fine grained tannins soften a softer more savoury palate develops revealing wonderful drinkability and tertiary complexity.
