Under Bond Orders When you buy wines Under Bond they can either be transferred, Under Bond, to an account in a Bonded Warehouse or delivered Duty Paid. We will enquire by email whether you wish the wine to remain under bond or be delivered duty paid. For Under Bond deliveries. We will ask you to provide the details of the bonded warehouse address and the account you would like it held under. Excise and VAT taxes are not payable for wines transferred under bond. A charge for the transfer will be made at the time of delivery, and varies from Bond to Bond. We will let you know what that charge is in advance, when you confirm the address, and issue an invoice for the transfer charge. For Duty Paid Deliveries. We will ask for the delivery address by email. All Under Bond prices exclude HM Excise, Customs and VAT. Current Excise rates are £16.03 per 4.5 litre case (equivalent to 6x75cl), Customs are Zero and VAT is currently charged at 20%. These taxes are liable to change, and will be charged at the prevailing rate when the goods are removed from Bond. At that time, a new VAT invoice will be issued, including a charge for onward delivery. The balance between what has already been charge Under Bond and the new VAT invoice will be payable. N.B. Our website currently does not automatically charge for these additional costs and may even suggest that the wines qualify for Free National Delivery. Weingut Max Ferd.Richter
This monopole is a southwest-facing vineyard slope of just two acres. The vineyard was planted in 1964, but the first historic record dates back to 30th April 1245! The vineyard was dedicated by the Count of Veldenz to the nearby convent from which it took its name “Helenenkloster” (St. Helene’s convent.) It offers a rather aromatic nose made of vineyard peach, apricot blossom and fine spicy elements. The wine is subtly creamy yet also beautifully light-footed on the palate and leaves a direct feel of herbs, fruits and spices in the animating and persistent finish. Flavours of apricot add a touch of weight to the aftertaste.

Domaine des Schistes
Grown on rocky schist soils in the commune of Estagel. West to north-west exposure. The vineyard is called 'Poux Baly'. A beautiful, bright blend of Vermentino 38%, Grenache Gris 34% and Maccabeu 28% that is utterly delicious and versatile. Medium weight with a fine, fresh length. Harvested at night into small crates and made very naturally and fermented in steel vats, with only one small addition of sulphites before bottling. Malolactic fermentation is blocked to keep the bright freshness.

Westwell
Pelegrim means Pilgrim in middle English (circa 12th century) and recognises the history of our forbearers that walked the Pilgrim’s Way above our vineyard for centuries on their final leg to Canterbury. This wine replicates this tradition in how the grapes are grown, selected and fermented. The Pelegrim NV is a traditional bottle-fermented sparkling wine that is made from Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay with reserve wines from previous vintages to give further complexity and a consistent extra dry non-vintage style. The wines are lees-aged in bottle for 36 months to give depth and biscuity aromas which only bottle-fermentation can deliver.

Quite simply a perfect essence of young, ready to enjoy Mosel style. From younger parcels in premier and grand crus including Brauneberger Juffer, Himmelreich and Treppchen. Riesling Classic 2022 Famille Hugel, Alsace. Fruity and floral on the nose with crispiness and medium+ acidity as a contrast on the palate. Outstanding Riesling that is several steps ahead of any other regular/basic house Riesling. Citrus, grapefruit, hints of honey and minerals. Riesling Niederosterreich 2022 Funkstille, Austria White peach, apricot compôte and plentiful floral notes add to the juicy texture, and lovely acidity balanced with a hint of residual sugar. Austria may not be as famous for Riesling as Germany or Alsace, but it should be!

Another winner from indigenous varieties; Portugal's great vinous inheritance. Demonstrates the skill and style of Portuguese winemaking these days, and the value of their offering. No oak, no over-extraction, not nonsense, just a beautiful limpid, light, lifted, bracing white so light it has not sign of gold in the colour, if anything a slight green hue. Not wishy-washy, it has plenty of character, but neutral in a good way, like Switzerland.

Adi Badenhorst has created three canned versions of his good-value, entry-level Curator wines, of which this is the pick. Aromas of juicy apricots, pineapples, bananas, nectarines and wild strawberry hints too. The palate is rich, intense and flavoursome with ripe stone and some tropical fruit, bound in a creamy mouthfeel, like a mouthful of peach yoghurt. A little jasmine freshness tickles the finish. Wow what a wonderful wine with a fantastic nose. Ripe fruits mingle with dried fruits with port like raisin and plum on the nose. Palate changes somehow and is much subtler, layered and expansive. Red apple, dried apricot, candied orange rind, Meyer lemon, smoke...it just keeps revealing itself further with this persisting mineral backdrop. Loved it!!!
