Domaine Jean-Pierre Seve
Vines of average age 40 years. It is important to understand the subsoil and originality of the different parcels that make up the cuvée ‘Terroir’, seeking to be above all the full expression of Chardonnay. On the palate is developed the freshness of minerality peculiar to Pouilly-Fuissé.

R. López de Heredia
López de Heredia - Viña Tondonia is particularly well-known and admired for its white wines, and Viña Gravonia is a very good option for getting to know its good work, a first step, and obviously much more affordable and accessible. Just its appearance, its colour, demonstrates clearly this winery’s exceptional work as true masters in the art of ageing wine: notice how little this white has been evolving; aged for four years in American oak barrels, with a long maturation in bottle until now, and yet it appears a lovely gold colour without evolution. Viña Gravonia is the house's most modest wine but its complexity is quite remarkable. The first impression on the nose is one of maturity and moisture: wet stones, sea breezes, gentle whiffs of iodine, which come as a surprise to anyone accustomed to lighter, younger whites, but which immediately captivates lovers of mature, complex whites. Swirling it round a little, straightaway it offers a blend of fresh, citrus aromas, with lactic notes (cheese) and ripe fruits, of ripe pear skin and lime blossom tea, with a very pleasant freshness once it becomes still in the glass. It is dry on the palate: don't expect a sweetish wine with this sort of maturity; its acidity is extraordinary and will enable it to continue evolving over time. The notes suggesting moisture and other aromas discerned on the nose are repeated now on the palate: evolved fruit, raw almonds and notes reminding us of cheese. It is an easy wine to drink, fluid, medium-bodied, a perfect companion for aperitifs and less complex dishes, mushrooms, full-fat cheeses and any mild dish combining these ingredients. Tondonia white wines relate extremely well to food and should be served at virtually the temperature of a red, remember: at about 14-16 degrees, or you will miss out on all its richness!

Raul Pérez
"2020 was a very good year for whites, and they harvested very early. The 2020 Ultreia Godello shows restraint and very low pH (3.2!) with high acidity (6.6 to 6.8). None of the whites go through malolactic, and this is the freshest vintage of this wine so far. This is now made with mostly own grapes from Cacabelos and Ponferrada (in 2022 they will own around 80% of the vineyards used for this wine), matured in a mixture of barriques, oak foudres and some concrete. It's super tasty, mineral and finishes dry. There are some 30,000 bottles of this wine. Drink 2022-2026." 93/100 Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, January 2022 "The enigma that is Raúl Pérez continues to enthral wine lovers the world-over with his own-brand of inspiring, light touch winemaking. Having almost single-handedly put Bierzo on the map, Raúl’s guru-like status (and appearance!) has inspired a whole new generation of dynamic winemakers across the entirety of Spain." "As new vineyards come in to production the main white of the project is now produced from majority estate fruit, mostly from the eastern part of the Bierzo zone, on schist and clay soils, from vines averaging 30-35 years old. Harvest here takes place a full 20 days later than in Valtuille, yielding grapes with high natural acidity and only 11-12% potential alcohol, which provides excellent blending material. 25% is sourced from Cacabelos on deeper clay-stony soils, and the final 25% from Valtuille where the vineyards have a higher percentage of sand in the soils. All plots are fermented in oak tank and assembled just before bottling. Aging takes place in barrels of various sizes and ages. The 2020 has a really good freshness and bright, zingy personality – moreish but with plenty going on, it is always on the youthful citrus, white fruit and flowers."

Domaine Danjou-Banessy
100% Carignan Gris that was raised in older barrels. It offers that classic cold steel-like character I always find in Carignan Gris, as well as plenty of citrus blossom, bright apple fruit - steely and penetrating. A real one-off. Utterly beautiful wine. This 2022 is simply thrilling, honey. Simply ELECTRIC! Buy now. That's the only advice you need.

Vilacetinho
Some fizz (relatively modest), low (10%) alcohol and a bit of sugar (only 5 grams per litre– barely over the legal “dry” limit and rather low for this style). It is a blend of 40% Arinto, 20% Azal, 20% Avesso and 20% Loureiro. This is the winery’s entry-level wine and it offers amazing value. We've made the decision to offer the wine in both cork and screwcap. This is the cork closure version.

Domaine Delhome
"I knew our terroirs very well, and knew that we could exploit them to the full. With Romain’s experience of vinifications all around the world, I was happy to launch the domaine". Gérald Delhome "This is an interesting newcomer to the ranks in the northern sector of Crozes-Hermitage, with vineyards in the communes of Crozes itself, Larnage, Gervans and Erôme. There are almost 11.5 hectares of Crozes across 20 plots, Romain is the fifth generation; his great-grandfather Flavien Delhome had vineyards, while, on his mother’s side there were vineyards under her family in the shape of Severin Habrard, so there are two old roots at play here. Father Gérald took over the domaine in 1993, and concentrated on apricots and vines, the grape harvest sent to the Cave de Tain. Son Romain came on to the domaine in 2018; he had worked locally at Gigondas and in the Ventoux at Chêne Bleu, as well as in Virginia in the USA. The cellar was built in 2019. The domaine is HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) registered, a green credential, and the 2022 harvest will be officially organic. 100% Marsanne (1950s-late-1990s) from sandy-loess soils on Les Védias at Erôme & Gervans, hand harvested, whole bunch pressing, 3-4 day pre-fermentation maceration at 6°-8°C, vinification in steel vat until 1060-1050 specific gravity, then transferred to 3-10 year 228-litre oak casks, lees stirred at the end of fermentation, raised 9-10 months. 5,500 bottles produced". Wonderfully idiosyncratic. A lovely delicacy and intricacy, one is almost unsure the varietal is Marsanne, such is its elegance. The aftertaste is really delicious and where the wine really comes into its own - savoury, saline, nutty with a note of marzipan and, oddly, a touch of aromatic hops. Brilliant from the young star Romain!

Alemany I Corrio
Crisp white fruit and apricot nose with a light nutty element and a Meursault-esque butteriness. Dry, soft but fresh acidity. A lovely depth of mineral laced, grassy white fruit with hints of apricot and nuts. Xarel-lo 100% Producer Profile In the little town of Vilafranca del Penedes in Cataluña, Irene and Laurent are challenging the traditional perception of DO Penedes wine. Converting their vineyards from the typical Penedes high yields and abandoning all forms of chemical treatment and fertilisers, they follow basic organic practices. Much of the construction and equipping of their cellar was modest and homemade, including building their own tanks. Production remains small, yet as they identify further small vineyard sites their range has extended to include distinctive wines from the indigenous varietal Xarel-lo, which they choose to do extended fermentation with, using indigenous yeast and it is then left on its lees to increase the richness and compexity. Viticulture With vines trained gobelet style, the vineyards are approximately 45 years old, on clay and limestone soils, yielding approximately 4000 kg / Ha. Practicing lutte raisonnée. Winemaking Vinification in 228l and 700l french oak barrels, fermented with wild yeast, after fermentation 2/3 parts are aged in 700 litre French oak barrels and 1/3 parts in stainless steel.

Olivier Leflaive
All the grapes come from the communes of Puligny Montrachet and Meursault and the wine is made by the same super-star team who make Leflaive's famed great whites. Some pedigree, some bargain! Smells like a hint of luxury! Indeed I'd say this is more eminently deployable than many of those Greats, in a mid-week context. All the markers are there: vanilla; nuts; mineral; honey; tarragon etc. but all in a reasonably reserved expression. Jancis Robinson OBE MW "Light nose and lots of vivacious, dancing fruit. Olivier seems to have the recipe … and it's fair value. If I found this in a country pub, I’d be delighted..." Les Setilles was served at Meghan and Harry's wedding.

Vigneti del Vulture
Low yield, old vines on arid volcanic Mt Vulture up to 800m altitude. Two ancient grapes one famed in Roman times one pre-Roman (Greco = Greek, southern Italy was Hellenic before the Romans arrived, and what did they ever do for...). Basilicata is the forgotten mid-south but in wines terms it is extraordinary and fascinating. Made by a super-modern outfit, they have lifted this into proper word-class status. Aromatic, it smells like green melon and elderflower, light, no oak, pure, snappy. A triumph. Decanter: "A lush white with striking tropical notes that would be great with a peach and burrata salad, though it has the freshness to make a fine aperitif too." One of our best-selling wines - and it is obvious why!
