Another cracking vintage of this fresh and aromatic - easy drinking - white from the Languedoc-Roussillon with delicate fruit and a bright finish. The Vermentino is concentrated and characterful with delicate aromatics.

Rustenberg is a well-known producer of high quality Chardonnays; the Stellenbosch Chardonnay embodies their house style. Apricot, coconut and orange peel aromas followed by flavours of marzipan, sponge cake and citrus rounded off with carefully-judged oak and balanced, fresh acidity.

With climatic conditions mimicking Galicia, the experiment of Albarino quickly turned into the most planed white variety for Garzon. My tasting notes from the lunch read: “V. Good, crisp, complex, finesse, mineral, long finish”. Chill a bottle of this and that’ll do nicely.

Kate McIntyre is the queen of Mornington, consistently turning out the most critically acclaimed wines from this famous area near Melbourne. Pale gold in colour with a lovely fragrant nose of yellow pear, chamomile, elderflower, blossom and a touch of honey. On the palate the pear and quince fruit characters are rich and mouth filling with lovely textural phenolics. The wine is long and full flavoured with a tangy seaspray saltiness on the finish. A great match to a warm goats cheese salad, with a touch of quince jelly.

Great aromatic intensity on the nose,with tropical notes followed by floral scents; lemon, peach, grapefruit, elder flower, hawthorn and lime blossom. Partly skin contact, partly carbonic maceration, Adi previously used to blend these funkier components into the straight Secateurs, but in the last few vintages, they've chosen to bottle them alone to create Secateurs Riviera Adi highlights that whilst skin contact Chenin can sometimes be quite harsh, tannin dominant and linear, the carbonic maceration creates the most highly aromatic juice, loaded with luscious pineapple and tropical aromas. They layer whole bunches at the bottom of the tank, then destemmed, with the free run juice drawn off daily. A little cloudy in the glass, but no notes of anything too funky or unclean! Bruised peaches, effervescent vitamin c, rhubarb and custard sweets, earl grey tea and lemon barley water. Such fun! Chalky and long in the mouth, we can imagine it would be superb with crudo/ ceviche. Chalky and very long.

An emblematic property of Anjou, the Château de Fesles and its wine estate were built in the 11th century at the top of the 4th highest point in the Loire Valley. Its exceptional geographical position as well as its proximity to the Layon river allow it to produce wines with a distinguished and complex character. Buttery and creamy on the nose with a lovely dose of oak giving honeycomb and caramel notes to the green apple and peach fruit. Lovely precise acidity and chalky tannic texture. Long, bright, flavoursome and characterful. Starting to show some attractive development on the finish too.

Jasper Morris MW Domaine Rollin Père et Fils works 14 hectares of vines in five different communes in the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. The domaine, situated in Pernand-Vergelesses (a village behind the Hill of Corton), was founded in 1955 by Maurice Rollin, but it was his father who had started to assemble parcels of vines from which he produced his own wine outside work hours (like his father, he was employed as a vineyard worker by another winery in the village). Rémi, Maurice's son, has now been joined by his own son, Simon.

Axel Pauly is one of the dynamic young stars of German wine. He took over the Pauly estate from his father after having done vintages in California, New Zealand and other parts of Germany. Most of the ten hectare estate is situated in the village of Lieser in the heart of the Mosel Valley, with the exception of a small parcel in neighbouring Bernkastel. Fittingly, the label features the Mosel hills which, when turned on their side, reveals the ‘Tres Naris’ (or ‘three noses’) of Axel, his father and his grandfather. Single Vineyard site. The grapes were hand-picked and sorted before they underwent a period of maceration for 10 hours. Fermentation occurred spontaneously in stainless-steel tanks with natural yeasts. This Riesling is bright yellow in colour with youthful reflections. The nose reveals aromas of sweet honey melon, ripe apple, peach, and pineapple. On the palate, it is fresh and lively with a well balanced sweetness and acidity across the long finish.

Bright straw yellow colour, even very intense, with nuances of greenish yellow, it has an elegant, intense nose, with aromas of hawthorn and acacia blossoms that give way to a fruity weave of citrons, mandarins and tropical fruit.

Pale lemon in colour, this Sauvignon Blanc combines aromas of fresh grapefruit and lime, followed by green gooseberry and melon on the palate. Herbaceous flavours marry exquisitely with fresh tingling acidity creating a crisp lively finish.

Always a charmer (and award-winner). Has shot to brilliance recently, in an interesting direction: so much 'terroir', smells like posh Chablis with seashell and wet stone, then opens out with Meursault-like punch plus a chalky-saline grip. Faultess.

Water-white. Very introvert nose. Still extremely youthful but with hints of a complex cocktail of passion fruit and minerals to come. Grainy texture on the finish. This is a baby! Super-clean finish. 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson MW

It shows a lovely pale yellow colour with greenish tinges. Fresh and expressive on the nose, with superb notes of pink grapefruit, mango and some slightly toasted hints. Its fine balance on the palate is remarkable, with a lot of roundness and body, as well as pure, elegant freshness. The flavours of Sauvignon are delicate and persistent, giving this wine length and vibrancy.

Grapes for this Pinot Gris were sourced from selected small plots in the Hunawihr vineyards, which lie at an altitude of 250-300 metres above sea level. On the palate, elegant flavours of pear are supported with a subtle smokiness.

Fermented in steel and aged for 2 months in French oak It has lovely floral and citrus fruit notes on the nose, more on the palate and thirst quenching acidity. Really pleasing to drink on its own or with creamy dishes.

Crunchy, pure Chardonnay with a hint of creamy oak, this is a super example of modern Burgundian winemaking from the impressive Buxy cooperative. Highly recommended

The appearance of Dandelion Vineyards Enchanted Garden of the Eden Valley Riesling foretells the pristine and unalloyed quality of its fruit. Classic aromatics of citrus zest, lemon foliage and hints of dragon fruit flowers are etched by a clear steely minerality. This is an attractively textural wine displaying the variety’s intense purity. Bone dry, its structure and length is underpinned by austere acidity.

The name Vulcanico highlights the characther of this wine made from the vineyards near the Vulcano Vulture. The freshness, balminess and delicacy typical of the Falanghina grape are seamlessly belnded with the brightness and generosity, a unique combination reminiscent of Southern Italy. Wet stone, a spritz of lime and crushed yellow apple form an attractive bouquet as the 2021 Falanghina Vulcanico blossoms in the glass. It's round and pliant in feel with saline-tinged orchard fruits that add a savoury twist. Nuances of tropical melon and pretty inner florals linger as the 2021 finishes long yet crisply refreshing
