Mullineux
Apple, melon, a drizzle of honey and something floral too. Gorgeously caramelised palate, giving an impression of sweetness. The fruit is really charming, ripe and tropical without any confection. Savoury finish with a long, lightly smoky aftertaste. South Africa at its best.

Famille Hugel
An unusual, but terrific, blend showing off Alsace's grape varieties in a supergroup line up. The spiciness of Gewurz; the grapiness of Muscat; the body of Pinot Gris; the backbone of Riesling; and the refreshing character of Sylvaner. The resulting wine is fresh and characterful. Aroma and flavours of lemon, tropical fruit and white peaches, floral notes and petroleum. Additional flavours on the palate of pineapple and ground white pepper. Dry medium plus bodied wine. Good length. A super complex wine and fabulous value. Vegan, Biodynamic agriculture

Kloovenburg's Village White is a new, good-value Cape white blend of Chenin Blanc, 30% Roussanne and 10% Verdelho from Kloovenburg's own vines. Pear, citrus and greengage fruit flavours are embellished by a bitter twist from partial skin contact. Fresh, focused and unwooded.

Au Bon Climat
Au Bon Climat’s "Hildegard" is a recreation of the original varietal planting of the Corton Charlemagne vineyard in 800 A.D. Chardonnay was not part of the mix at the time, but rather Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Aligoté. The combination of this unique blend with long term barrel aging (2 years) made something special. It has a texture, complexity, and distinctiveness that cannot be found in a single white wine varietal. Hand harvested, whole cluster pressed and put into barrel to ferment. The 3 varietals age separate for 2 years in 100% new François Frères French oak barrels. Lovely aroma of vanilla and hazelnuts from the oak, and a mouth-coating richness, makes for a wine that seems like Chardonnay. But the fruit profile is more bruised apple and pear, and the aromas are more floral than Chardonnay. Minerally lavender and vanilla note from the fermentation/aging regime in top-notch barrels. Aromas of ripe stone fruit, contrast nicely with fresh herbal scent as the wine is initially evaluated.

Qupe
Classic unreconstructed good old-fashioned ready-to-go Santa Barbara Chardonnay. Big but bone dry, plenty of oomph, indeed plenty of everything. Ripe pineapple and vanilla, a nice dash of supporting oak, aromatic and citrus lift. jancisrobinson.com "Aromas of lemon curd and cold cream. Lemon-curd and lemon-juice flavours mix with a nice floral quality. Decent acidity. Pleasing flavours. Good Value (AY" Founded 1982 by legend Bob Lindquist, Qupé wines are modern California Classic, specifically Santa Barbara classics - quite frankly along with his mate Jim Clendenen and some visionary farms such as Bien Nacido - they made this region the wonder that it is today. Qupé has been ranked many times among the "Best 100 Wineries in America."

Greywacke
Right from the get-go, this sets itself apart from the rest of the pack with a level of polish, complexity and balance. The nose has ripe peach and mango fruits; gentle savoury, yeasty complexity adds biscuity aromas too. The palate has an immediate sense of concentration and the textural richness builds in smooth layers; there’s pear and nectarine, and a juicy, precise finish. Scents of a summer orchard: juicy nectarines, plump sun-dried apricots and tree-ripened lemons mingled with musky oriental spices. The palate is silky and sumptuous – warm honeyed stone fruit with almonds and shortcake. A lithe, textural wine of intense richness, laced with a citrusy, sherbet-like zest.

Domaine Ott
Domaine Ott Clos Mireille Blanc 2023 is a blended white wine from the Côtes de Provence appellation of south-west France. It is primarily Sémillon (around 70-80%) with a smaller proportion of Rolle (also known as Vermentino). This blend is a signature of the Clos Mireille estate, acquired by Domaines Ott in 1930, and exceptionally situated right on the Mediterranean coast in La Londe les Maures. Its vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate with schist and quartz soils, sea spray, and generous sunshine, contributing to the wine`s distinctive character and salinity. Expect bright, luscious white peach and melon fruits, coupled with pomelo, lemon peel, mango, pine buds and garrigue herbs.

Cà dei Frati
Way, way out of its class - no other Laguna matches this for complexity. Chablis-like in its bracing stony frame but layered with waves of white peach, ripe lime, tarragon, hints of chilli or ginger. A slightly eccentric but 100% gorgeous wine that really commands attention.

Domaine D'ourea
From a vineyard located on the sandy banks deposited by the river Ouvèze. Vinified whole-bunch with a short maceration and then 6 months breeding in concrete vat produce a serious, deep and lush but mineral and savoury wine. A fifty-fifty mix of Clairette Blanc and Rose. A GREAT introduction to this most exciting of estates based in Vacqueyras and Gigondas.

La Vigna Di San Martino Ad Argiano
This wine is named after Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song". What further example of winemaker Giampaolo Chiettini's genius do you need? Immigrant Wine is a brilliant, curious Tuscan white IGT wine produced from Müller Thurgau grapes grown organically in a vineyard in the Vicchio di Mugello area at 370 meters above sea level. The grapes are harvested in the second half of September which then see fermentation with their indigenous yeasts. A short breeding in steel vat on fine lees follows until the wine is bottled in the spring following the harvest. The wine is precise with good energy and a nice volume. Showing nice floral tones, some elderflower and herbal qualities wrapped up with a delicious savoury complexity and delightful saline notes on the finish. We have half of the 480 bottle total production.

Marques de Murrieta
Smoky and nutty on the nose with aromas of fresh quince, pear, almonds and toasted notes. The palate showcases touches of oak, almonds, camomile, pear, dried apricots and has a creamy feel. There is superb balance and texture, with a line of fine acidity, the wine really develops in the mouth. Capellania pairs well with sea bream, smoked fish, roast chicken, and the cheeseboard at the end of the meal. It's incredibly versatile and also pairs well with Asian dishes. The grapes for Capellania come from the eponymous single vinyeard site, which is situated at an altitude of around 485m, one of the highest points of the Ygay estate. The vines were planted in 1945, so provide wonderfully concentrated grapes for this leading white wine from Rioja.

Kumeu River
Fantastic length. Nothing in excess, there's oak, there's spice, there's richness, stone fruit, citrus fruit, all in balance and all building up. Will age. Sumptuous on second look. Jancis Robinson 17/20 "Mid to deep greenish gold. Toasty and glamorous on the nose. They aim to make a Chablis style because it's all limestone so very lively and tense. I'd say the acidity isn't as pronounced as a typical Chablis. Real grip on the palate. Very long with lots of tension. (JR)
