From an exceptional south-facing single vineyard set high on the North Downs. Without question the best still English wine I have tasted. It’s mouth-fillingly fine with rounded, supple peach-like fruit and an ever so slightly toasty, vanilla finish thanks to nine months in French oak. If you like serious white Burgundy or Chablis, you’ll love this.

This is an excellent wine, very much in the style of Sauvignon Blanc that has made Marlborough famous, fresh grassy aromatics with superb texture and palate weight and fresh overall crispness. A small proportion of Semillon goes into the beland adding complexity and richness.

Domaine Vocoret is a small family estate dating back to 1713. The estate is now in the hands of fourth generation Jerome Vocoret and comprises just over 33 hectares spread across the four appellations. Half of the vineyards are premier Cru and Grand Cru and the offer at this level is excellent. The label proudly states ‘Qualité, Noblesse, Respect du Terroir’. A generous style with lots of ripe pear notes along with great citrus acidity and a dash of green apple skin. Plenty of concentration here, all backed up by a slatey, stony aftertaste.

Fresh red apples, white grape skin, some citrus and fresh nettles. Soft notes of oak coming through on the tongue. Good acidity balance. Round and long.

The influence of wild yeast, vineyard site, barrel ferment and time on lees makes for a rich and textural style of Sauvignon Blanc. Fifteen months in French barriques has given this wine a well-rounded textural palate while still retaining freshness at the back of the palate.

England's top winery's top wine. Named after their entry in the Domesday Book in 1086. Easily the equal to the best of luxury cuvee Champagne.

Light gold hue and a fine, delicate mousse. Aromas of lemon sherbet and honeysuckle lead into fresh pastry and vanilla characters. The palate is rounded and soft, offering generous yet elegant notes of green apple, lemon zest, orange blossom, and chamomile, with a touch of baked hazelnut. A subtle minerality accentuates the fresh, crisp acidity, leading to a long and complex finish.

Parker 94 "Huet's bright golden colored 2016 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie is clear, fresh and intensely fruity on the remarkably precise nose. Medium-bodied yet concentrated, elegant and sweet on the palate, this is a salty, piquant, mineral Chenin Blanc with intense, elegant and well-structured fruit. The wine reveals a chalky finesse and long tensioned finish. Bottled with 84 grams of residual sugar, this is still a pretty sweet but doubtlessly promising Vouvray. Tasted February 2018." "Huet's winemaker Jean-Bernard Barthomé classifies the complicated 2016 vintage as "exceptional" in so far as the frost from April 27th reduced 50% of the potential yields. 2016 was also exceptional due to the endless rainfalls in spring that were followed by an exceptional period of drought between July and November. The harvest? "Exceptional!" It started October 6th and went on for three beautiful weeks under a blue, luminous sky. "Beautiful conditions prior to and during the harvest allowed us to make multiple passes through the vineyards," he said, which led to the production of the entire range of table wines from Sec to Première Trie and even the rarely produced "Cuvée Constance" (I haven't tasted the latter yet, though). Bottled in April 2017, all the wines are very delicate, elegant, pure and superbly balanced expressions of their specific terroirs. The Clos du Bourg Moelleux is the first since 2009, and it is fabulous. However, my personal wine of the vintage is the 2016 Le Mont Moelleux Première Trie, which is a very complex and truly exciting Chenin Blanc from flint and green clay soils! Its light, fresh, pure and concentrated style reflects the vintage perfectly, with firm yet vibrant structure, a salty taste, crystalline acidity and a long, complex finish that reflects the great terroir of Le Mont"

75% Chenin Blanc and 25% Viognier. Grapes are grown on 30+ year old trellised Chenin and 15 year old Viognier from hidden corners of the Cape. Vibrant and aromatic with delicious subtle perfumed aromas with white peach and hints of jasmine on the nose. On the palate it has tight, white, fleshy stone fruit and fresh apricot flavours that balances the sandy texture. Bright acidity and minerality helps to deliver a delicious flavoursome and characteristic wine.

Pale gold in colour with very fine bubbles. Intense aromas of raspberry, red apple skin and rose petal. The textured palate is both vibrant yet refined, revealing layers of orange zest, raspberry, apricot and marzipan. Opulent fruit and complex biscuit characters persist in a long, mouth watering finish. "12% alcohol. This is from a single plot, 73% Pinot Noir and 23% Chardonnay, on greensand soils in Sussex. This is so refined, nuanced and delicate with beautiful cherry and citrus fruit with a sense of finesse. There’s nice concentration, fine acidity and a beautiful focus to the fruit with fabulous length and elegance. Finishes with finely spiced red cherry fruit, and the fine acid line on the finish just keeps going on. Golden colour and clear oxidative nose, with vanilla, nuts. Ripe apple, Butter. Oak. That special Jura white taste, close to sherry. Good acidity and lovely nutty peachy palate. A particularly elegant, finely balanced example of Marlborough Chardonnay. Ripe, concentrated flavours of citrus and nectarine fruit with barrel ferment nuttiness and a slightly creamy texture help to give a subtly persistent weight and finish. The wine shows an array of fruit characters, ranging from citrus through to tropical notes. This is complemented by some secondary characters from the natural yeast ferments and some barrel ageing. The palate has an elegant structure with a creamy, textural mid-palate and a long finish.

For 300 years, the Richter family has owned and farmed vineyards in the central Mosel area. Working 16ha of vines, they have consistently produced some of the region’s best Rieslings. Intense fruity aroma, reminiscent of white peach and pear, delicate touches of vanilla. On the palate fresh, velvety with a long finish. 6 months in French oak gives this wine an attractive colour with a scent and taste which is reminiscent of citrus, apples and peaches. A toasted vanilla flavour adds to the complexity.

Spain is really upping its game with its delicious white wines and this high altitude cool refreshing Rueda is an excellent example. Vibrant aromas of white peach, citrus and grass. Fruity, fresh palate, really elegant.

For a grower famed for intense whites this is supremely bright and fresh and lifted. Apples and pears, petals and lilies all round.

Grenache Blanc, a charming but overlooked variety, offers really lovely green apple fruit with a lovely acid snap. Viognier brings scent and lushness.

Bright and fruity Chardonnay from a switched on producer, making flavourful wines for instant enjoyment at a great price.Really great value. White peach, overtly fruity, nice balancing acidity.

A limited edition wine from Gayda that changes with every vintage. Beautiful Rolle (Vermentino) and Viognier from the Minervois are picked when perfectly ripe then pressed slowly in whole bunches, with very gentle racking and seeing careful vinification without sulphur, at low temperature - ageing on lees - the Rolle in stainless steel vats, and the Viognier in a mixture of concrete eggs and stainless steel tanks. This is SPARKLY BRIGHT and DAZZLING with good richness also. The pale yellow colour is elegant and brilliant. On the nose, a discreet subtlety reveals notes of Granny Smith apple, lime and fresh almonds, characteristic of the blend of Rolle and Viognier grapes. On the palate, the wine is full and generous, supported by a lovely acidity and a slight, attractive bitterness on the finish. A mineral touch adds fascinating depth also. The flavours of fresh pear, acacia flower, almond and white peach unfold harmoniously, offering you a refined, beautifully balanced treat of a wine. Unique and utterly, utterly marvellous. A LOT of wine for the money.

Fermented in steel and aged for 2 months in French oak It has lovely floral and citrus fruit notes on the nose, more on the palate and thirst quenching acidity. Really pleasing to drink on its own or with creamy dishes.
