From a very good White Burgundy vintage 2017. Golden color, bold, powerful nose, cooked white fruit, spicy on vanilla, complex. On the palate, nice balance, rich, good length and very ample. Perfect with creamed poultry. A very beautiful wine

Superbly elegant Meursault. Nothing thick or cloying to this wine. Brioche and vanilla on the nose and palate. Gentle layer of lemon hovering over events with a sliver of oak making up an incredibly structured wine. Lovely texture.

Vincent Dureuil Janthial
The superstar of the Cote Chalonnaise. Every wine a joy. Vigneron of the Year 2019 La Revue du Vin de France “If I see his name on a wine list, I don’t give it a second thought and simply order his wine.” – Jean-François Coche (of £500-£1000 a bottle Meursault fame, ranked by Parker as one of the best winemakers in the world).

Bret Brothers
First-rate, small, 2-young--brother organic operation turning out expressive, stylish delicious wines of serious stature and big charachter, a must-try. RobertParker.com "Bursting with aromas of pears, honeycomb and orange oil, the 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Terres de Vergisson is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with a textural attack, ripe but succulent acids and a broad finish. This is a round, charming Pouilly-Fuissé that will drink well young."

Remi Jeanniard
Remi Jeanniard is a hands on grower working just over 7 hectares of vines in and around Morey-St Denis. When asked who helps him at harvest time, the answer is simple: he does. The vines are much older than average, with all of his Vieilles Vignes village bottlings being at least 50 years old. This gives a natural concentration to the wines which are both well structured and elegant. Remi is a firm believer that wines are made in the vineyard and this shows through in the pure, concentrated style of the wines and the cautious use of new oak. Remi practices partial whole bunch fermentation, keeping 20% of the stems for Villages wines, 30% for 1er Cru wines, and 50% for Grand Cru.

Domaine Bachey-Legros
"Toasty, broad, and fleshy as is the style. Rather sumptuous, oak and toast but great mineral undertow throughout. Long and polished. Some tropical, even a slight green mango on the finish. Good."

Domaine Gaelle et Jerome Meunier
Good intensity on the nose. Step up from village wine. Spicy oak. Melon, pineapple, blossom, honeysuckle. Juicy fruit. Mineral structure. Good acidity, weigh, and freshness. 60% new oak apparently, but only a very light toast on the barrels.

Olivier Leflaive
The name Leflaive carries an expectation with it to produce the best wines possible and cousin of the famed Anne-Claude in which Olivier co-owned Domaine Leflaive with does not disappoint on his own range of wines. Saint Romain, Its exposure towards South-East and its limestone stony soil give a wine of personality mixing rich but subtle aromas. This cuvée is vinified from three distinct plots of different ages. A lively wine with saline minerality and a richness from the oak aging (20% new). Very elegant. Ideal with pâtés, terrines and potted meat

A nose which combines white flowers and fresh butter then with age evolving towards notes of honey or ripe pear. The wine is full and concentrated on the palate.

Domaine des Comtes Lafon
A small village nestling in a valley behind Meursault and Volnay, Monthelie produces mostly red wines, mini-Volnays with appealing fruit but sometimes a rustic edge, and a small amount of white wine. The best wines come from the steep slopes above the village, such as Les Duresses. In a bowl above Monthèlie, these are the latest to ripen of the Comtes Lafon vines. The resulting wine is always robust and full of black cherry fruit, but the tannins are supple leading to extremely enjoyable, mid-term drinking.

Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin
The benchmark of grand Chablis. 14th generation family of winemakers in Chablis, Jean-Paul almost single-handedly raised serious Chablis to global fine wine status. Low yields, old vines, classy but tempered and top quality oak, these are clearly a class apart from other Chablis, matching Puligny for intensity, indeed I often feel they taste like two bottle of Chablis crammed into one! Typically buttery and ripe but super-mineral too, like sucking a wet stone. Also, unsurprisingly, very very rare.

Domaine Rollin
From vineyards that share the same Corton hillsides as many Grand Cru, this Pernand-Vergelesses epitomizes the great value still to be had from village-level Burgundy. The wine begins with aromas of high-toned cherry blossoms and raspberry preserves offset by hues of forest floor. The palate features a balance of savory red fruit, wild herbs, and tannins integrated with a vibrant and persistent acidity. Bottled unfiltered.

Domaines Leflaive
Limited release from a few small first-rate plots. Macon ripeness (think apricots, peach and custard) plus Puligny-like mineral and toast. Quite a triumph from the god-like Leflaive estate, and under 1/10th the price of their Meursault! What a find.

Moillard Grivot
This wine offers aromas of black fruits on the nose. The notes of blackberry or blueberry are followed by liquorice and cocoa. On the palate, one find sices on an elegant an refined toast. The supple and dense tannins go along with the fruits, in a long finish.

Domaine du Comte Armand
This is from the lieux-dits Famines, which has the old vines, and Grands Champs, which is just above Famines. You can sense how Paul’s winemaking has worked: there is a lovely, ripe, open entry of pure coulis, but then a tightening of the tannins to pull the wine together.

Domaine Arlaud
Domaine Arlaud Moray Saint Denis 2014 is a bit of a fire cracker with dark raspberry fruit, floral notes, violets and a glossy liquorice and bitter chocolate edge. It has great minerality on the palate, lots of energy and fruit purity which makes it an exhilarating glass of wine.

J-M Brocard
We've known these wines and M. Brocard for decades and trust me this VV is the pick of the bunch, better than the 1er Crus and a steal compared to the Grands Crus. 70 year old vines with 25m deep roots! Saline, anise, razor-fine. Organic. Jancis Robinson MW OBE 17/20 "Just a whiff of this is enough to get the saliva really flowing. Lovely stuff. Juicy oyster shells with a good combo of fruit and acidity. Great stuff. Long and edgy. Quite forward but no one could object to this. Very Good Value"

Corinne & Thierry Drouin
This outstanding, estate-grown Chardonnay comes from a massive outcrop of limestone at the base of the iconic La Roche de Vergisson. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in neutral French oak demi-muids, this is the classic style of Macon with an unctuous and creamy texture, but displaying the wonderful only-in-Burgundy kind of mineral-driven acidity that keeps it extremely refreshing and adds a touch of class to proceedings. Notes of toasted hazelnut, almond, yellow apple, pear, jasmine and honeysuckle are prominent, while beautiful stony mineral notes shine in the finish. The finish, by the way, is notable for its extreme persistence and is the cherry on top of a truly outstanding white Burgundy, the kind of value every lover of these kinds of wine craves.
