La Magia
Made with certified-organic fruit, the La Magia 2017 Brunello di Montalcino reveals the ripeness and robust flavors that come naturally in this hot and dry vintage. That ripeness is well managed, and it appears as textural softness and creaminess more than anything else. Sangiovese's characteristic acidity keeps the wine from feeling heavy, and the palate is accented by cherry confit, Spanish cedar, cola and wild rose. The finish is a bit abrupt and simple. 93/100 Drinking window 2024-2035 Robert Parker Wine Advocate "Low-yielding old vines yielded stunning quality at harvest, allowing for extended macerationgiving depth, texture and complexity. Maturation for 36 months helped reduce oak sweetness and maintain freshness. The heady and perfumed nose offers blood orange, cigar box, black cherry and rose tea. The palate is opulent, seductive and fresh, with stony grip and a long, mineral finish." Davy ?yw, Senior Wine Buyer, Berry Bros & Rudd "Beautiful red with floral and black-cherry aromas. So floral and perfumed for this hot and dry vintage. Full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that are energetic and long. Structured and manicured. From organically grown grapes." James Suckling 96/100

Il Palazzone
Le Due Porte is 540 metres above sea level. Budbreak is later here, often avoiding issues with late frosts and snow. Ripening is slow and constant. The soil profile preserves humidity; important when making a wine such as Brunello that does not contemplate irrigation. Alberese has high levels of calcium carbonate which favors acidity, aided and abetted by the slower ripening and later harvest due to the exposition and altitude. We generally pick Le Due Porte as much as two weeks after our vineyards in Castelnuovo dellAbate and are often amongst the last in Montalcino to harvest. The grapes develop organoleptic complexity from that extra hang-time and from the pronounced difference between day and night temperatures. In fact the altitude guarantees extreme thermal excursion even in hotter years which is wonderful for aromatic development. Over the last two decades we have seen, year after year, a pronounced character emerge in the fruit from this vineyard, a wine that maintains the typical structure of a Brunello vecchio stampo and epitomises finesse and elegance."

Meo-Camuzet
Bourgogne Cote dOr is technically a new geographical denomination within the regional Bourgogne appellation with the aim is to highlight the greater potential of the Côte dOr, in the heart of Burgundy, to produce unique wines. Displaying excellent density for its level, this is substantial, with bright red berries and forest fruits alongside ripe, supple tannins. Méo-Camuzet is one of the undisputed star estates of Burgundy. Until 1988 most of the domaine's holdings were leased out to other vignerons and amazingly most of the wine was sold off to négociants in bulk. Today, it is a very different story. Meo Camuzet now has over 2.5 hectares of grands Crus and 8 hectares of some of the finest Premier Cru vineyards of Nuits-St-Georges and Vosne-Romanée. Most of the vineyards are farmed organically, but not every aspect of all vineyards: one or two which are difficult for tractor access may still see an occasional herbicide or anti-rot treatment. Jean-Nicolas Méo and Christian Faurois now run the Domaine and together they produce some of the very best wine in the Côte d'Or. Meo Camuzet produces full-bodied, firm, rich, oaky, concentrated wines, which no serious Burgundy drinker should overlook.

Vega Sicilia
Pintia lies on the banks of the Douro river, within the Toro D.O. region. The extremely cold winters and hot summers influence its complex soils, which are mainly known for their significant pebble content. This means that finding the perfect harvest period is key to ensure the wine conserves both its fresh aromas and acidity. Harvesting ran from September 20 to October 7. A rainier vintage, it already looked very promising when tasting the grapes, with great fruit and well polymerised tannins; this quality carried forward into the wine. A new production plant was used for the first time during fermentation, enabling even more precise work during extraction. It was a very balanced year, with tenser wines, in which the proportion of new oak was increased slightly, while the level of toast of the barrels continues to be reduced. So rich and delicious, a clear step up in quality and worth every penny. Pure fruit and so concentrated. The grapes are from older vines which produce a lower yield yet more power. The vinification process is a unique mix of both stainless steel and concrete fermentation and ageing with the natural yeasts which are flying around the desert make this an exceptionally interesting and complex wine.

Chateau de Garnerot
Manual harvest and sorting, aged in oak barrels for 15 months. Alexia Russo and Caroline Fyot changed their careers, following their dreams of having their own wine estate. Settling in The Côte Chalonnaise and the Château de Garnerot, they created their first vintage in 2018. This Mercurey is garnet in colour packed with fine jammy red fruits and black pepper bouquet. The palate is balanced and structured. A liquorice finish gives it length. Its spicy aromas call for fine cured meats, white meat with spicy sauces, roasted poultry, grilled red meats, mushroom omelet, beef stew and fresh pasta, veal kidneys. Drink now or discover in a few years (five to ten years).
