Olivier Leflaive
All the grapes come from the communes of Puligny Montrachet and Meursault and the wine is made by the same super-star team who make Leflaive's famed great whites. Some pedigree, some bargain! Smells like a hint of luxury! Indeed I'd say this is more eminently deployable than many of those Greats, in a mid-week context. All the markers are there: vanilla; nuts; mineral; honey; tarragon etc. but all in a reasonably reserved expression. Jancis Robinson OBE MW "Light nose and lots of vivacious, dancing fruit. Olivier seems to have the recipe … and it's fair value. If I found this in a country pub, I’d be delighted..." Les Setilles was served at Meghan and Harry's wedding.

A marvellous wine from the great team at Dourthe, who own Ch Belgrave and other up and coming properties in Bordeaux. Chateau de Fesles
An emblematic property of Anjou, the Château de Fesles and its wine estate were built in the 11th century at the top of the 4th highest point in the Loire Valley. Its exceptional geographical position as well as its proximity to the Layon river allow it to produce wines with a distinguished and complex character. Buttery and creamy on the nose with a lovely dose of oak giving honeycomb and caramel notes to the green apple and peach fruit. Lovely precise acidity and chalky tannic texture. Long, bright, flavoursome and characterful. Starting to show some attractive development on the finish too.

Château Cantelys
This 20ha estate has been owned since 1994 by Florence and Daniel Cathiard, who also own Château Smith Haut Lafitte and are making some of the most exciting, perfectly honed wines in Bordeaux. Their top wines well north of £100 a bottle so this wine appears relatively good value, particulalry since it came out top at a recent Decanter tasting of Red Graves from 2016. Bravo. Planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, on mostly gravel soils with some clay. Grapes are handpicked and sorted twice, whole-berry fermented in large oak vats before ageing 14 months in 25% new French oak barrels. This is intense, fruity and a real joy to drink now or keep for another 10 years.

Chateau Les Pins de Bossuet
HISTORY The Dubost Family’s estates were created in 1957 by Paquerette and Yvon Dubost. He was the former mayor of Pomerol, so he knows its history as no one else does. His vineyards have a rich and complete range of wines. Nowadays, his son Laurent, graduated from agricultural school, runs the estate. Thanks to him and his team's hard work, he placed the wines from the Dubost estates at the fore of their appellations: Château Lafleur du Roy in Pomerol, Château les Pins de Bossuet a Bordeaux Supérieur, Château La Vallière in Lalande-de-Pomerol. Château les Pins de Bossuet was created and planted by Yvon and Pâquerette DUBOST in 1975, on exceptional parcels close to the appellations Lalande de Pomerol and Montagne Saint-Emilion. The 9 hectares are located at 70 meters of altitude, with a south west exposure, it benefits from the oceanic climate. The unique and exceptional terroir is exclusively made from gravels. The vineyard is 30 years old on average, planted with 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc. No chemical herbicides are used in the vineyard as it is regularly tilled. Finally, in order to keep the wine quality, harvests are completely made by hand with total destemming of the bunches. The wine is rich, harmonious with nice red fruits, undergrowth and spices aromas with an excellent ageing. The color is dense with a rich bouquet of red and black fruits. The mouth is fleshy and round, with gorgeous and charming tannins and allows us to enjoy it young. Nice substance and structure for a great ageing.

Rathfinny Estate
“Liquorice nose. It’s hard to believe the dosage is so low, because the ripeness and roundness of fruit on this wine is exceptional. Pin-point-fine bubbles snap the lemon and blueberry fruit into taut lines. There’s a cool stoniness, like mossy concrete; an almost imperceptible peppery nuttiness; and then the wine momentarily widens into sweet pear before narrowing into a piercing finish.” Tamlyn Currin for jancisrobinson.com

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht
All the vineyards used to produce this wine are located in the Herrenweg area in Turckheim and were planted in the 80s and early 90s. Young vines on these gravelly, warm and well drained soils can be very vigorous and for the Pinot-Gris grape it often means an evolution towards botrytis or noble rot. Not necessarily a default, but leading to the production of richer/sweeter wines. Now, the vines start to show much more maturity and are entering gradually in their adulthood, showing more reasonable vigour. It means that it is easier to control the botrytis development and also obtain purer and drier style of wines.

Ai Galera
Another winner from indigenous varieties; Portugal's great vinous inheritance. Demonstrates the skill and style of Portuguese winemaking these days, and the value of their offering. No oak, no over-extraction, not nonsense, just a beautiful limpid, light, lifted, bracing white so light it has not sign of gold in the colour, if anything a slight green hue. Not wishy-washy, it has plenty of character, but neutral in a good way, like Switzerland.

Chateau Coutet
More classic Sauternes style. Rich stone fruits, a smoky backbone, and a syrupy finish. Declared a 1er Cur Classé at the 1855 Sauternes and Barsac Classification, Château Coutet has been producing wine since 1643. Boasting both the largest vineyard in Barsac (thirty-eight-and-a-half hectares) as well as the largest cellar (110 meters), Château Coutet has been owned by the Baly family since 1977 and managed by Aline Baly since 2009.

Dry, clean, and crisp with citrus notes, yellow plum, light green apple, & a hint of white pepper. Billecart-Salmon
Created in 1988 as a tribute to one of the House’s founders, Elisabeth Salmon, this cuvée distinguishes itself through its refined purity of grandeur and unique character. This great, rare and sought-after wine subtly offers the signature of our top Pinot Noir and Chardonnay terroirs. Elisabeth Salmon 2012 highlights the full breadth of the savoir-faire required to blend the House’s rosé in an exceptional year. The aroma dispalys a refreshing, sensual expression of the senses, redolent of red and black berries. The exquisite feel of a rich and complex aromatic amplitude (bilberry, gooseberry, peony). Beautifully refined, mature olfactory notes, respectfully running the gamut of the inimitable scent of fragrant roses and crystallised violets. On the palate, a tactile impact of restrained yet bewitching power and, at the same time, finesse. The harmonious fulfilment of delicious flavours and pastries (panettone, cherry clafoutis). A delicate mouthfeel progressing towards a hint of chalkiness in a long finish redolent of cedarwood and blood orange jelly. A wine of remarkable refinement that signals its personality with an immense delicacy of texture and flavours. An aromatic charm of a rare mineral kind to accompany lovely poultry with crayfish or a few royal langoustines.

Errazuriz
Errazuriz is one of the most famous Chilean wineries, founded in 1870 and consistently one of the world's most admired wine brands. They make the icon wine Sena, which beat Ch Lafite and Ch Mouton Rothschild in the Berlin Tasting to be named the finest Cabernet Sauvignon in the world. The grapes for the Winemaker's Selection Sauvignon Blanc come from selected vineyards that grow close to the Pacific Ocean’s coast in the Aconcagua Region, on rolling hills at an altitude of 100 to 300 meters above sea level. Gentle Pacific breezes and morning fog make these vineyards ideal for producing refreshing Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes were picked by hand and taken to the winery, where they were carefully destemmed, crushed and pressed. The must was lightly clarified and fermented in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation the wine was kept on their lees for three months to intensify its distinctive fruit character and develop a nice texture. The nose displays citrus aromas of lime and tangerine. The palate features flavours of mandarin, tropical fruits and herbal notes. A wine with refreshing acidity, great depth and persistence.

Toldpuddle
Impressively deep, rich purple-red colour, unusual in Australian pinot noir. The bouquet is loaded with black cherry, blackberry and spice aromas, a hint of smoky oak adding charcuterie and fivespice nuances, while the palate is voluptuously full and rich, decadently flavoured, with luxurious flesh and fruit, abundant fine/soft tannins and terrific length. There are some whole-bunch nuances which are beautifully incorporated into the wide array of flavours. A totally convincing and thoroughly impressive Aussie pinot noir to compare with the best in the world. 98 POINTS. Huon Hooke, The Real Review. Tolpuddle has firmly cemented its position at the pointy end of the Tasmanian pinot noir pyramid, consistently producing knockout wines that have become a benchmark for the region. Nothing changes with the 2022 release, which shows wonderful fruit intensity and oodles of pinosity in a graceful package. Lovely pure dark cherry and wild strawberry fruits, cut with exotic spice, charcuterie, roasting game, shiitake broth, amaro herbs, purple floral tones and complex forest floor notes. Textural and elegant yet with an undercurrent of latent power and intensity, a tight tannin frame and a long finish that shows balance and poise. Just wonderful stuff. 96 POINTS. Black/purple colour. A lovely complex nose with excellent sweet and rich fruit aromas such as black cherry, black currant and blackberry. On the palate it is packed with solid, structured, rich and intense black fruit flavours and an admirably long finish. Vilarnau
A superb off-dry Prosecco alternative produced exclusively for the UK market by Eva Plazas, the ever dynamic winemaker at Vilarnau Cava. Produced from a blend of indigenous grape varieties, Macabeo, Parellada and Subirat Parent, aromatic primary fruits on the nose lead to a palate with excellent balance between acidity and sweetness. Using the highly aromatic and rare Subirat Parent grape as part of the dosage (15g/l) is inspired.

Domaine Danjou-Banessy
A blend of Genache Blanc, Gris and Noir, from ancient 90 year old vines in the ancient and quite amazing 'C|os des Escounils' that the brothers are developing and working on re-establishing it's other potential vineyard areas. Yves Cuilleron
A rather unusual 100% Marsanne from a small appellation in the Northern Rhone. Textural, concentrated, impressive. Terrific wine. From the website of UK agent Thorman Hunt: A top star domaine. Yves Cuilleron took over the reins as the 4th generation vigneron in 1987. He is based in Chavanay, just south of Condrieu and has built up a formidable reputation in recent years. Always developing new ideas and cuvées, our tasting here each year is mightily impressive. We are lucky to have the allocation we do. Having started with Yves’ stunning Vin de France, we now have access to his amazing range of Grands Vins. He now owns and leases over 75 hectares. We think they are all great wines and they are all in the style of Yves Cuilleron – lingering, rich white wines and big rich minerally reds.

Quinta de la Rosa
Juicy star Douro red from the hugely talented Sophia Bergqvist. Touriga Nacional & Franca, Tinto Roriz et al. eRobertParker "When first seen, this was a big overachiever... it is still beautiful. The pure and intense fruit is simply delicious, but the structure means that this doesn't just seem like a candied fruit bomb... a cut above what wines like this often achieve. It's a "summer red" style, but it adds a bit of distinction. I continue to love this delicious Tinto..."

Moorooduc Estate
Kate McIntyre is the queen of Mornington, consistently turning out the most critically acclaimed wines from this famous area near Melbourne. The Estate Pinot Gris is full bodied and dry. Fruit is sourced from the Garden and Osborn Vineyards. The wine is fermented in old oak, using wild yeasts, and goes through a full, natural malolactic fermentation in barrel. It shows yellow pear, quince and spicy notes on the nose and lovely weight and texture on the palate. To show its staying power Kate has released a little of the 2013 vintage on its 10th anniversary. It's exquisite, very harmonious and characterful, a joy to drink now.

The 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett offers a sensitive, sublime, complex, exquisite and slightly flinty nose with a coolish and delicate expression of stewed apricots and some greenish berries, whereas the first stony character remains. This irresistible and noble bouquet leads to a round and lush yet refined and savoury palate, with coolish apricot flavours on the long and sustainably salty finish that is firmly structured but elegant and highly stimulating. This is a superb, very elegant and complex, sustainably structured Sonnenuhr. This is a great pleasure to drink, but you can easily keep this Kabinett for over three decades. 8% stated alcohol. Gayda
Pale colour with aromas of strawberries and cream. Summer fruits, fresh lively style with crisp acidity, creaminess and a well balanced finish. The Flying Solo range flies in the face of convention, shunning international varieties in favour of the typical Mediterranean Grenache grape which forms its backbone, blended Cinsault. It celebrates the intrepid ‘Aéropostale’ pilots who risked life and limb to ensure postal deliveries in the 1920s

Bright, aromatic and silky with lovley purity of fruit and well balanced acidity. This is where the value lies in Burgundy! From UK agent Thorman Hunt: Philippe Gavignet and his son Benoit create Nuits-Saint-Georges with a profound elegance, countering the appellation’s reputation for often delivering more “rustique” wines. Gavignet’s wines are a testament to the terroir’s potential for producing refined Burgundy. Established in 1979, with state-of-the-art cellars built only a couple of years ago, we were treated to a fantastic tasting. Most of Philippe Gavignet’s Pinot Noir vines are notably old, with the majority planted during the 1930s and 1950s. The vineyards are cultivated as naturally as possible, steering clear of herbicides and pesticides. Hand-harvesting is a standard practice, and the wines undergo aging in a combination of new and older French oak barrels, with no more than one-third being new oak. All wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Interestingly, Gavignet remains somewhat of an insider’s gem, overshadowed by more prominent names in the village that command higher prices.

New Hall Vineyards
With a pale salmon, Provencale hue, the Barons Lane Rose is packed full of summer fruits, red apple, white peach with a slight creaminess and a tart balanced finish. This corner of Essex is one of the warmest paces in the UK, and is also blessed with London Clay and areas of gravel left over from the retreating ice shelf some years back – both of which make for happy grapes. The acreage under vine is huge by UK standards. They have been selling grapes to larger, well-known and very commercial English wineries around England but are now determined to concentrate on their own production.

Flint Vineyards
Inspired by the Bacchus Fumé 2022 (the highest scoring Bacchus in the UK), the Fumé 2023 is the winery's only release of Bacchus from the last vintage. The fruit was harvested by hand from our own vines and a parcel from Martin's Lane Vineyard in the Crouch Valley, Essex. To express the complexity of the Bacchus grape, we use a multitude of techniques that respect both the traditional and more novel methods of winemaking. 40% fermentation and ageing in 3rd-fill oak barrels lends texture and encourages aromatic development rather than oak flavour. Barrels can push Bacchus towards the style of its parent variety, Riesling, and the 2023 Fumé demonstrates this. It is ripe and fleshy with pear and apple aromas and flavours, a lovely tezxture and length. Hyper-oxidation of some juice fractions softens the wine and use of nitrogen at the press preserves aromatics.

Domaine La Loyane
Laure Dubois runs this excellent estate with her husband Romain and has fully converted to Organic farming. The wines they produce are consistently good and elegant, mainly from the Lirac appellation, north West of Chateauneuf-du-Pape but also this Cotes du Rhone from just outside. The 2022 is the third year in five vintages that the wine has won a coveted Coup de Coeur top award in the Guide Hachette, the 'bible' of French wine. Charming, 'irresistible' and ready to drink it also offers outstanding value for money. Domaine La Lôyane was voted Winemaker of the Year in 2018 by the Guide Hachette. La Lôyane refers to the place where the estate is built, a place formerly occupied by wolves! The estate, founded in 1994, is located in the south of the Rhône Valley, near Avignon in the Lirac cru. The Dubois family has been cultivating its 20 hectares of vines there for 4 generations! And the last, with Romain Dubois, has cnverted the estate to organic farming. An extremely precise estate, which is constantly moving upmarket and producing wines from vines that are sometimes more than a century old!

Domaine Odyssee
Natural, organic Syrah from a beautiful vineyard in Baixas, Roussillon. Grown with great care and wildly fermented and aged in old oak barrels for 12 months. Lifted, expressive Syrah with pretty floral notes and minerally fresh red and black fruits with some spicy, meaty notes and soft texture but with some matter and with a welcome, silky fruit character. Charming Syrah. The name 'Chimichurri' is a nod to Vincent's beloved Argentina (see below) because of the wines spicy, meaty character. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon, Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities - the whole shebang! For four years now he has been employed by a family winery based in Maury - Clos des Vins d'Amour. Who work 25 hectares organically in the west of Roussillon. Mostly in commercial activities, but also working in the cellar. Alongside this, in 2016, Vincent started a new project - Domaine Odyssée. The 3.5ha of vineyards are in Calce and Baixas, in a heart of Roussillon. The sites are small, but unquestionably some of the most beautiful we have seen. Vincent draws on the experiences mentioned above and his time in New Zealand (2011), Argentina (2012) and Bordeaux 2011 to help fully realise what he has there in his exceptional terroir. Vincent works organically, using no weedkillers, no chemical products. He works by hand and with organic fertilizer (he is in conversion right now). He harvests his parcels by himself with friends and family. In the cellar, Vincent’s philosophy is a minimum of intervention "To keep the fruit and the terroir.". The wines are extracted gently with just a little pump over. No filtration, no fining. The only preservative is a little dose of sulphites in very low quantities at bottling "It is important for me the stabilise the wine in respect of the future customers".

Natural, organic Grenache from a beautiful vineyard in Baixas, Roussillon blended 50/50 with Fer Servadou from Aveyron in central France! The Fer Servadou is from Vincent's friends at Coultades du Coustoubi. The '78' moniker comes from both postcodes being added together - 66 for Roussillon and 12 for Aveyron. The blend makes for deep fruit, delicious, savoury and wholesome tannins in a really interesting, delightful wine. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon, Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities - the whole shebang! There are many delightul Northern Rhone whites from 2021 and this is very much one of them. Performing very well in Crozes-Hermitage tastings in both Terres des Vins and La Revue du vin de France, well up amongst the big boys and girls of the appellation. 70% Marsanne, 30% Roussanne - half from loess soils on l'Homme at Larnage, half from loess soils on Les Pinets at Crozes-Hermitage. 90% steel vat, 10% new 600-litre oak cask fermented, raised 9 months, assembled just before bottling, malo completed. John Livingstone Learnmouth on Drink Rhone - "Fine yellow robe; the nose is neat, offers lime cordial, peach airs, hints of salt and spring flowers, a note of varnish. This drinks with direct purpose, has a restrained, firm content, gathers depth and tannin into the solid, slightly pushy finish. There is more weight than at first appears, turning it towards a table wine, up for pork dishes, vegetarian pasta, courgettes, Brie de Meaux, cheddar. Decant it. From mid 2023 until 2029-31" Rated 3.5/5 stars.
