Beronia’s is a beautiful story. It was founded by a group of friends who cooked and ate together, known in Northern Spain as a ‘txoko’, sharing their love of fine food and fine wine. Soon they realised that being in the heartland of Spanish wine they could make their own. And so Bodegas Beronia was founded in the 1970s. Today Beronia is one of the most recognised premium Rioja brands globally. Charming winemaker Matias Calleja has visited us in Cambridge a number of times. There will always be a translator so that he can do his presentation in Spanish, but he seems to speak excellent English once you feed him some overproof whisky after the event!
