This stunning Stellenbosch estate nestled at the foot of the Simonsberg mountain has been bottling wine continuously since 1892. Today the estate is led by young and dynamic Murray Barlow. Their international reputation has been built on Chardonnay and Bordeaux blends with their standard bearers the Stellenbosch Chardonnay (all wild fermented in barrel) and John X Merriman red blend which are both always so reliable. Above this there are then the world-class single vineyard wines: Five Soldiers Chardonnay and Peter Barlow Cabernet Sauvignon. The Barlow’s don’t sit still though, and there are new wines coming on board such as the Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc, and an increased development of Grenache and Malbec on the reds front particularly in the wake of the recent drought in the Western Cape.
